Business Meeting Minutes
February 6, 2008

Meeting convened at 12:00 PM
  • Introduction of Officers
    • Margaret Driscoll (CSU Channel Islands), Chair
    • Nell Yang (Santa Ana College), Treasurer
    • Robin Hartman (Hope International University), Secretary
  • Approval of Minutes from April 26, 2007 Meeting.
  • What should our Regional User Group provide? Margaret reported ideas from EndUser Meeting April 2007:
    • Support
    • Conduct workshops
    • Certification 300 classes
    • Upgrade training
    • Maintain accurate eSWUG website with links to support sites
  • This year’s Training Event (survey) – Margaret reported that the results from survey resulted in the topics covered in today’s training.
  • Financial Report by Nell Yang, Treasurer.
    • Currently we have just over $1600 in the eSWUG bank account
    • It is expected we will have about $2800 with more checks to be deposited.
    • Nell will give an accounting after payments and expenses from this event have been finalized.
    • Ex Libris provided funding for the food for this event.
  • Nominations of potential new officers.
    • Robin Hartman with send out a call for nominations via email along with job descriptions and bylaws.
    • Elections will be held both by proxy and physically at ELUNA in July if a meeting can be scheduled during the event.
    • Margaret will gather and send email addresses to Robin. Margaret asked about getting a complete list of Voyager and other Ex Libris product Users from Ex Libris. Jenny & Tate will check into getting a list to her.
  • ELUNA 2008 Annual Meeting, July 30 – August 1, 2008 at CSU Long Beach.
    • Margaret encouraged members to do poster sessions – Deadline for proposals is April 30.
    • Robin encouraged eSWUG members to get involved since it’s in our region this year and think about partnering with others to make presentations and represent eSWUG in order to show appreciation for the conference being held locally.
    • Andy Kohler said Wil Frost recently sent an email to Voyager-L saying that the deadline for submitting proposals for Presentations has been extended to February 15th.
    • As the group is primarily a Voyager users group familiar with the EndUser format, there were questions about the membership requirements, nature, and format of ELUNA.
    • Jenny Forbes and Tate Nunley answered some questions but are not involved with planning user group meetings.
      • Pre-ELUNA technical seminars and the ELUNA customer & Ex Libris presentations is similar to EndUser.
      • ELUNA is usually in June and is not always in the same location as EndUser was always in Chicago.
      • Attendees to not have to be paid ELUNA members, but institutional members do receive a tuition break.
      • Only ELUNA members can vote.
      • SupportWeb will have more information later.
    • Margaret will contact Wil Frost of the ELUNA 2008 Program Planning Committee regarding holding an eSWUG meeting at ELUNA.
    • Margaret will also contact Loralynne Evans who handles Ex Libris regional user group relations regarding other Ex Libris Regional Users Groups in our area for possible coordination and/or merger.
    • Margaret encouraged ELUNA attendance, citing the value for integrating other Ex Libris products such as SFX with Voyager to better serve our patrons.
    • Jenny asked for suggestions for topics for ELUNA presentations.
