| Chairperson Judy Swanson called the meeting to order at 7:30 PM. Eleven SWVUG members were present: Prima Casetta (Getty Research Institute), Glenn Cook (Molson Coors Brewing Co.), Ryan Edwards (Pepperdine Library), Marly Helm (Arizona State Museum Library), Mary Ann Laun (Pasadena City College), Melody Lembke (LA County Law Library), Hema Ramachandran (Pasadena City College), Claudia Scott (Westmont College), Judy Swanson (California State University, Channel Islands), Christopher Thomas (LA County Law Library), Isao Uesugi (College of the Canyons). Chairperson Swanson handed out the meeting agenda. She then read the financial report for 2005 submitted by Treasurer Stephanie Tetter who was unable to attend. Swanson explained that the balance of $1598.41 in the checkbook resulted from monies left over from training conference fees. Motions to accept the agenda and the financial report as submitted were approved unanimously. Swanson asked the attendees to introduce themselves and tell what version of software they are currently running. She then summarized the intent and purpose of regional user groups as follows: to exchange ideas and explore issues of mutual concern, to serve as a conduit of advice and information from Endeavor to users and from users to Endeavor on issues of software, hardware, networks, telecommunications, and services; to facilitate training for current users; to build consensus among members for future software enhancements; to synthesize for Endeavor the input of members; and to facilitate the exchange of information and advice among members. Swanson led a discussion on possible training events for the coming year. Training opportunities identified included training on new products, i.e. Meridian, EnCompass, Voyager 5, or training on exiting modules like Acquisition. Meeting participants also suggested training on spine label programs, URL changer, or how to conduct an inventory. Swanson explained that the support provided by Endeavor on new products for functional training was approx. $300/day and the costs for outside consultants was more costly. Pasadena City College offered to host the training, although no training topic was unanimously endorsed. Election of officers was held. Swanson explained the duties of Chairperson-elect and Secretary/Treasurer. Christopher Thomas (LA County Law Library) volunteered as Chairperson-elect. The vote to elect Thomas as Chairperson-elect passed unanimously. Marly Helm (Arizona State Museum Library) volunteered as Secretary/Treasurer. The vote to elect Helm as Secretary/Treasurer passed unanimously. Swanson identified several SWVUG tasks that needed to be done including, updating the website hosted by Hope International (Swanson will confirm that they will continue to host the site), updating the email distribution list, and updating the Endeavor site for current SWVUG members. The meeting adjourned at 8:55 PM. Submitted: Marly Helm |
