The description for the SFX, MetaLib session by Marcia Henry looks like a copy and paste of the Voyager 7 Tomcat session by Laura Guy. Can you update it. I'm trying to decide who from our staff might be able to benefit from attendance and this information would help. Thanks, Robin

I could not find a thread on our upcoming conference so I will post this to "General Discussion". I would like to suggest a session topic for our Feb 2010 meeting...how to use Gary Strawn's Location changer program with Voyager. Would someone who is familiar with this program plan a session on it? Thanks so much for your consideration. Marly Helm

Hi Marly!
We have already set our 2010 schedule, and so cannot include another session at this time. However, we will keep this topic in mind for the 2011 mini-conference. Keep checking the home page of this wiki for our 2010 mini-conference to open registration soon -- this week if all goes well.

Just a quick note to let you all know that I am now on the ELUNA 2009 Planning Committee with the position of Coordinator of Photos. So do not be surprised if I ask you to bring your cameras to the ELUNA 2009 Conference, to help me with taking pictures. I am sure I will find out more about my responsibilities as time goes on. If interested in helping to take pictures, please let me know, and I will put you on a list. Thanks.

For the very few who might have followed this thread, it has turned out that I am unable to go to ELUNA 2009 after all. Still, I have gathered a list of photographers for the conference, and look forward to seeing what they post. Check out http://www.flickr.com/groups/eluna2009 to see the contributions that start coming in during or after the conference early May, 2009. It will be a nice way for those of us who cannot go this year to see what is happening in Richmond, Virginia.

We worked hard for this year's event, held February 21, 2009. Now we are in the process of thinking about next year's event. We are sorting through the evaluation forms and gathering information from a survey. Here is another place you can give your ideas and suggestions for the next event. Not only do we welcome suggestions for session topics, but speakers as well. Feel free to add to this thread. And get the word out to other users of Ex Libris products in the South Western United States.

Hourly Loan periods in Voyager

Hiya! We've been having some trouble with our hourly loan periods in Voyager. According to the sysadmin module, the periods are set for two hours, but the due date that comes up at checkout is only one hour in the future. The matrix is set up correctly, so that's not the problem. I tried (unsuccessfully) to post a question about this to the Voyager-l list. A couple of other people report the same problem, but no one has offered a solution. Any advice would be welcome.

We never found out what happened, but the problem spontaneously fixed itself. That happened right around the time that we USED to go on daylight savings time, so there was some speculation that Voyager might be referring to an external clock somewhere that is different from the computer's clock. It seems improbable to me, but I don't have a better explanation. That doesn't help you in your case, though.

Is there anyone out there that has already set up your Voyager system to work with EndNotes? I would really appreciate instructions or a cheat sheet. I need to set this up in our system in January 2009. Thank you. Marly

What would you like to see presented (be specific)?
Where would you travel to?
How long should a training event be? One day? Two days?

I suppose we need to get started on this -- time starts to really fly right about now! I'll send an email to the listserve and our new secretary to jog people re: training suggestions. I'll also look into hosting the event here at CSUCI -- we're now open and functioning in our new building and have computer classrooms possibly available. I'll also send a notice to ExLibris to pass on to all other product listserves. Thanks (?) for the reminder! Margaret

Voyager 7 Upgrade

How many libraries in our eSWUG group have upgraded to Voyager 7? What things have you liked about the upgrade? What things have you found to be a challenge?
We are deciding if we want to upgrade now or wait until any bugs are worked out. We are presently on Voyager 6.5.3. So we wanted to know if there are any problems to keep an eye out for, or if any problems are not significant enough to be concerned about. I have seen a few posts about this on the Voyager list, but wondered if others have not found the issues to be all that important.

We're going to upgrade in December -- I'm hoping it goes smoothly. I think some of the 'bugs' have already been worked out with an upgrade patch, but we'll see.

RE: RSS Feeds

Jul 26 2008, 12:34 AM EDT
I personally keep up to date by subscribing to listserves specific to my work. I am subscribed to the Voyager list, the OCLC Cataloging list and ATLANTIS, which is the list for the American Theological Library Association (ATLA). Those are my major ones. I am also subscribed to the small libraries' group with Voyager. I get so many emails to sort through just with those that it takes enough of my time.
Part of my personal thing with RSS feeds is that I have not actually subscribed to one before, meaning I have not taken the time to figure out how to. Do they just send you some kind of notification when a new post is made to the blog of your choice? Which ones do you subscribe to?
Followers of my personal blog are probably a bit disappointed at the moment that pictures of my latest trip to Israel in May have not made it there yet. One thing about blogs I have noticed is that if you do not keep up with them, you lose your few faithful followers.
Does anybody else in our group have a blog, and if so, do you put library related things on it? I have an unofficial blog for our library that I post news and pictures for life in the library as a way to help our former student workers know what is happening here after they have left us. I have kept a scrapbook from the past 20 years, so this is an extention of that -- now that I have a digital camera. What are the rest of you doing with blogs?
